An annuitant seat on the State Employee Retirement System (SERS) Board of Trustees is at stake—and having a strong union voice on the board is important.

AFSCME Chapter 31 Retirees recommend John Tilden for re-election.

John Tilden is an experienced advocate for retirees and a decades-long AFSCME member and leader, with some 50 years of public service under his belt.

He has served the last 10 years on the SERS Board of Trustees and is running for re-election to serve the best interests of the annuitants that depend on their pensions.

“During my 10 years on the board, I’ve been an advocate for retirees, making sure our pension is well-funded and that the board is making smart investments that work for us,” Tilden said. “Retirees need someone effective who knows how to solve the problems we face. That’s why I’m asking for your vote to allow me to continue being your voice on the SERS board.”

Here’s how to cast your ballot in this SERS election:

  • Watch the mail at your home for your ballot. Ballots are being mailed out to all SERS annuitants on May 1.
  • Mark your ballot for John Tilden.
  • Return your ballot right away. SERS must receive your ballot by June 1 for your vote to be counted.
