On Nov. 8,  Illinois voters will have the opportunity to vote yes for the Workers’ Rights Amendment.

WHAT IS THE WORKERS' RIGHTS AMENDMENT?
The Workers’ Rights Amendment would add language to the Illinois Constitution to guarantee the right of workersto organize and collectively bargain for fair wages, meaningful benefits and safety at work.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?
The Workers’ Rights Amendment will guarantee workers have the freedom to bargain collectively to negotiate wages, hours, and working conditions. We've seen workers in nearby states harmed by anti-worker politicians, and the WRA will guarantee workers are protected no matter who is in power in Springfield.

The Workers' Rights Amendment will:

  • Drive wages higher and produce a stronger economy by guaranteeing workers can bargain collectively. The Workers Rights Amendment will put more money in the pockets of Illinois families, helping our economy grow and our families thrive.
  • Keep us safe on the job by ensuring workers can speak out about dangerous conditions that put all Illinoisans at risk, and collectively bargain to make their workplaces safer.
  • Protect our first responders by giving them the tools they need to keep us safe.

Here are some common questions people have about the Workers' Rights Amendment:

Q: I heard this amendment will raise my taxes?
A: The Workers’ Rights Amendment has nothing to do with taxes. Politicians raise taxes, not workers. In fact, the WRA will put more money into workers’ pockets to pay for the rising costs of everything, including tax bills.

Q: I heard this only applies to government workers?
A: The Workers’ Rights Amendment will be enshrined in the state constitution and will apply to everyone. Federal, state, and local laws still apply as well, but the WRA will ensure that fundamental workers’ rights are protected.

Q: I heard this is only going to help union workers?
A: Collective bargaining raises wages of all workers, union or non-union, because employers have to compete on wages and benefits to attract workers. In fact, data from the federal government shows that workers make on average $11,000 more in states with collective bargaining protections compared to anti-worker states.nd our families thrive.
